Welcome to the Matrix Theatre Website

Sally McCormack established Matrix Theatre in 2002, the people behind the scenes have a great deal of professional experience and knowledge within the industry.

Sally’s intention was to create a company that provided workshops for children that are stimulating and fun for all. It has always been Sally’s aim to keep the plays and workshops inclusive and she has been pleasantly surprised at the popularity of having the workshops’ signed.

School History Workshops
Scripts for Hire
Shows

Each workshop has been carefully created to engage all the senses making them an all round experience. For example, the workshops are: visual (a large variety of props are utilised), aromatic (with perfumed oils and herbs), appetizing (grapes and bread are offered to the children to eat), musical (evocative of the era), and tactile (children make and paint gifts).

Each child is provided with a costume and invited to be part of the fun. Children’s shows are also interactive and designed to keep their attention right to the end.

Inset and Training Days

Matrix offers a variety of end of term school shows, which offers 60 characters or more, so all the children have the chance to perform.
Hear about our shows and Christmas shows. All are full of audience participation.

The Roman Empire
Hazel Weaver (Head Teacher, Abinger Common First School)
All the children were fully involved in the workshop and got great insight into the life of a Roman soldier.  This drama workshop provides a fun way for both girls and boys to become a Roman for short while!

Great Fire of London
Mrs Chamberlain (Head Teacher, Billingshurst School)
It was wonderful that ever child was involved and got the chance to dress up. They were enthusiastic about the follow up work.

Mrs M Shepherd (Coombe Hill Infant)
The Fire of London workshop provided our Yr 2 children with a fantastic opportunity to act out the Fire. It was excellently resourced - each child having a costume; well researched by the workshop leaders and well structured - so every child was fully occupied all the time. we used it as a stimulus for wonderful cross-curricular newspaper reports in our literacy sessions - visual literacy in action! Thank you Matrix Theatre. See you next year.

The House of Tudor
Miss Musgrove (The Greville)
We all had a brilliant time and developed a really good understanding of the everyday lives of Tudors through excellent participation.

The Old Toy Shop
(Wescott First School)
The children particularly commented on how funny the toy soldier was. She also said there was a good mixture of characters for both girls and boys (i.e. a male figure and a female figure). The children really enjoyed the participation song.

Spirit of Ancient Egypt
Mrs Mogridge (The Greville)
What a fantastic day. Ancient Egypt was brought alive in front of our very eyes. A brilliant interactive experience for all the children..

Ms P Keane (Cuddington CPS)
Great workshop! Very informative for children - clear subject knowledge from actors. Loved the colourful costumes and all 26 children were able to participate fully.

Mini Beasts
Mrs Hobhouse (Head Teacher - Coombe Hill Infant School)
This interactive theatre experience for young children enabled the best quality learning about science we have ever seen. We shall certainly book in advance for next year.

Rosie Keedy (Head Teacher, South Bookham Infants)
How much we enjoyed the minibeast workshop. The children were really engaged and it was a exciting climax to our outdoors week. Thank you again.
